HTC Unveils A Metaverse Phone

HTC released a metaverse smartphone. What do we know about it?

Taiwanese consumer electronics company HTC has launched its first “Viverse” phone – HTC Desire 22 Pro, which incorporates blockchain and NFT functionalities and is compatible with HTC’s metaverse platform.

Metaverse Functionalities

The smartphone is designed to perfectly work with HTC’s recently announced Vive Flow VR headset and used to access Viverse, HTC’s metaverse. The headset, however, could work with any Android phone out there so what advantages could HTC Desire 22 Pro give to its users?

According to HTC’s Taiwanese website, the phone comes with a free NFT and a digital wallet to manage crypto assets. However, it seems that this is not valid for all locations in which the new device is marketed. For instance, the company’s UK website does not mention such features. Was this part skipped on purpose? We are yet to find out after the phone is officially available in August.

Price

HTC Desire 22 Pro could be currently pre-ordered at a price of £399 (about $485). Shipping will start on August 1.

Other Features

One may say that the rest of the features of HTC’s new smartphone are quite mediocre and close to the ones offered by other smartphones currently on the market. HTC Desire 22 Pro’s main advantage is probably price. As for its blockchain and metaverse features, let’s not really judge it before trying them.

In the meantime, here is a comparison between HTC Desire 22 Pro, Samsung S22+ and iPhone 13 PRO.
